Beauty is Eternal

Debbie, age 17

This is my very first composition.  I wrote it when I was 17 years old.  I was a senior in high school when I was called to serve on a Regional Laurel Conference committee.  I was put over the music and felt inspired to write the theme song for the conference – Beauty is Eternal.  It was a very spiritual experience writing this song.  My musical training had consisted of  six months of piano lessons in the third grade, and playing trumpet in the school band.   I was so unlearned that I had to look at the LDS hymnal to see which direction to place the stems on the notes. I arranged it for a 3-part women’s chorus.  It was a very noble effort for a first song.  I have spruced it up a bit since.
